After 33 years, Whitey’s Ice Cream has officially closed its location at North Park Mall in Davenport, IA.
The store, which opened in 1987, originally closed on March 19th due to COVID-19 and has remained closed since that time. With the lease ending soon, the decision was made to permanently close the store a couple months early.
“While we are saddened by this closing, we knew it was the right time,” said Jeff Tunberg, co-owner of Whitey’s Ice Cream. “We are thankful for the 33 years we had with this store and hold many dear memories of our time at North Park Mall.”
Jon Tunberg, co-owner of Whitey’s, added that “Whitey’s would like to thank each and every customer for their business at this location over the past 33 years. Additionally, we want to thank all of our extraordinary employees who helped build this location into a fantastic store.”
Whitey’s Ice Cream will continue to operate eight stores in the Quad Cities. Additionally, Whitey’s can be purchased at grocery stores throughout the Midwest and ordered for shipping across the country at www.whiteysicecream.com/shop.
