UPDATE:

Our Rock Island store is back open starting Monday, August 31! All employees working have tested negative (or were never exposed) and the store has been deep cleaned again. We are continuing to take every precaution to ensure our employees’ and customers’ safety and we are thrilled to be back open!

Today is not our day – we just heard that an employee at our Rock Island location tested positive for COVID as well. The employee did not have any symptoms and did not get it at work. Although, we are not required to close the store, we are going to do so for a few days so that employees can get tested and the store can be deep cleaned again.

Our East Moline store is back open starting Friday, August 28! We are still waiting on a few employees’ tests results, but all employees working have tested negative (or were never exposed) and the store has been extremely deep cleaned. We are continuing to take every precaution to ensure our employees’ and customers’ safety and we are thrilled to be back open!

We were just informed that an employee at our East Moline location has tested positive for COVID-19. Given this news, we are going to close down our East Moline location for a few days in order to deep clean the store and give the employees who worked time to get tested. This employee did not work at the store since before the weekend, and no other employees are showing symptoms. All other locations will remain open and check back for more information on our East Moline store.

Please know we are doing everything we can to keep our employees safe and healthy while at work and we greatly appreciate your understanding and support during these strange times.

Our August treat of the month is for the dogs… it is a Pup Cup to celebrate the dog days of summer! We’ve seen a lot of adorable dogs in our drive-thru these days and we decided they deserved the Pup Cup.

It is a mini-dip of Vanilla Ice Cream with a dog bone on top and is available for the price of single dip.

“Weaned on Whitey’s” onesies are now available online and in stores! So cute and so soft, this new onesie is perfect for your smallest family member. Also, it is a fantastic gift for those Whitey’s-loving new parents!

HAPPY NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY! In honor of one of our favorite holidays we have decided to come out with two brand new flavors – Sea Salt Toffee and Caramel Waffle Cone! Starting today, both flavors will be available at all of our stores.

Sea Salt Toffee is a sea salt toffee flavored ice cream loaded with HEATH Toffee Bar® pieces.

Caramel Waffle Cone is vanilla ice cream mixed with chocolate covered waffle cone pieces and a caramel ribbon. Both are fantastic and the perfect way to celebrate National Ice Cream Day!

We are still waiting on a few employees’ tests results, but all employees working have tested negative and the store has been extremely deep cleaned. We are continuing to take every precaution to ensure our employees’ and customers’ safety and we are thrilled to be back open!

We were just informed that an employee at our 53^rd Street location has tested positive for COVID-19. Throughout this whole process we have made every effort to ensure the health and safety of not only our employees, but our customers as well. Given this news, we are going to close down our 53^rd Street location for a few days in order to deep clean the store again and give our employees time to get tested. Although, the Scott County Health Department is not requiring us to close this location due to this positive test, we feel it is the right thing to do in order to best serve the Quad Cities.

All other locations will remain open at this time and please continue to check here for more information on our 53^rd Street store. Please understand that we are doing our very best to navigate these strange times and we greatly appreciate your understanding and support.

Shipping is finally back up and running!

We will start sending out ice cream shipments this Tuesday, June 16. For right now, we are only offering overnight delivery service. Overnight deliveries may arrive one day later due to heavy FedEx delivery volume, but all shipments will contain sufficient dry ice to last 48 hours.

We are thrilled to announce a new flavor – Dairy-Free Chocolate Mint!  It is a dairy-free and vegan frozen dessert made with coconut cream, that everyone will love.

Dairy-Free Chocolate Mint is rich and creamy, using a mixture of coconut cream and cocoa with the perfect blend of mint! This flavor has the traditional creamy texture of regular ice cream and will be available at all of Whitey’s Ice Cream locations starting Friday, June 12, 2020.

“We know that this has been a growing trend in the ice cream industry, but we just wanted to make sure when we came out with a dairy-free flavor, we did it perfectly!” Whitey’s Ice Cream co-owner Jeff Tunberg says. “It’s delicious – I think we hit the mark!”

“We’ve heard from many customers over the years that they loved Whitey’s Ice Cream but unfortunately could no longer have dairy, so we are anxious to see what our fans think,” says Jon Tunberg, Whitey’s Ice Cream co-owner. “If you are vegan or avoiding diary, there is no need to miss out on Whitey’s now. But we truly believe this flavor is as good as the regular options on our menu, so delicious that even dairy-eaters will enjoy it!”

It will be available in dips, sundaes and hand-packed quarts and pints. Each dip (in a dish or as a Sundae) will be an additional $0.30 per dip. Hand-packed pints  will cost $6.95 and hand-packed quarts will be $11.95.

This flavor will have all the traditional ice cream lovers believing in the deliciousness of dairy-free flavors. The other dairy-free options available at Whitey’s Ice Cream include Smoothies, Popsicles and Slush.
